My love of the body in movement, my deep spiritual faith and my desire to share the joy and benefits of yoga have brought me to this place in my life. I taught fitness and dance for many years but when I embraced yoga several years ago, I found such joy and peace in my body and mind that I decided to expand my knowledge and growth in this discipline. I am certified as a Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Practitioner, as well as MS/ Adaptive yoga, and chair yoga. I am a member of the KYTA and an ACE personal trainer. The training that I received has strongly enhanced my commitment as a teacher to share the benefits of yoga as well as continue my personal and professional growth. I am truly grateful for all the wonderful yoga students who have touched my life and enhanced my journey through it.

I have been involved in music, movement and dance since I was a child. For 28 years, I was a student of the Jackie Chomka Dance Studio and owner of Take A Bow Dance Studio in Clinton. In addition to my yoga certification, I am licensed to teach through Kindermusik International, a NYS Cosmetologist and a newborn parent educator through the Happiest Baby Program. I have been studying yoga for 10 years and have grown to love every aspect of it, especially teaching and my students. The philosophies, beliefs and practices of yoga have carried over into every part of my being, enriching my life in many ways.

My deep love of yoga came in a time of great illness. In Oct of 2009 I had a tumor removed from my brain stem which controls movement. I am a massage therapist and have always loved my work but I couldn't work if I couldn't move. I also have great faith. I was alive, but I wanted to live. I practiced yoga everyday. It not only helped me regain my strength, but gave me a mental calmness that I hadn't felt in many years. I have always had great compassion for others pain but my illness taught me so much more. I am very passionate about teaching love of life through yoga.

Mary Finkle, LCSW,RYT                                                                                                                          My heart felt connection to meditation and movement has led me to become a Kripalu Certified Yoga Instructor. When we place our bodies in yoga posture, guide our breath, and direct intention, we become skillful at accessing receptivity and openness. We develop a sense of compassion with nonjudgmental awareness as we experience meditation in motion. This is Kripalu Yoga. As a NYS Licensed Psychotherapist, I integrate yoga into my private practice for the enhancement of emotional wellness. I am currently the Health & Counseling Services Director at PrattMWP where I also teach Gender Studies, Literature, Psychology, and Yoga. I am honored to become part of the amazing staff at the Universal Yoga Center, and I look forward to the opportunity of sharing the benefits of yoga with you. Namaste.

I have been practicing yoga for over fifteen years. I am a 200 hour certified teacher of Kripalu and prenatal yoga. Rooted in compassion, my classes offer students the opportunity to explore the balance between movement and stillness, effort and ease, strength and grace. My classes provide all levels of practitioners the opportunity to work safely toward their edge and explore their own unique possibilities. My passion lies in the holistic healing potential of yoga. I am both a teacher and a student, inspired by an ancient practice.
